The left door on the rear is where the ADB cable from the base of the ‘desktop’ monitor stand plugs into (the stand is removable & swappable with the ‘picture frame’ stand, thus the need for this)

The left door on the rear is where the ADB cable from the base of the ‘desktop’ stand plugs in. It is detachable because the stand, while removable, has a built-in ADB hub.

Apple points out in the user’s guide that the ‘desktop’ stand has these rubber pads on either side. These help prevent the keyboard from sliding off when stored vertically here, freeing up desk space.

The cable splits into DC power, VGA, and ADB, which is necessary to power the ADB hub in the display (which the Desktop Stand plugs into for its ADB hub).
